"The Enthusiast"

When I started this business, I never believed that I would want to share what I have learned with so many wonderful people. I have always wondered why I got into this business and what would set me apart from the others?

I can answer that by saying, I know what I like and I don't like. I want my customers to have the chance to tell me what works best for their skin types. I don't want to leave it up to a no-face manufacturer who hasn't spoken or looked at me to decide my fate.

I feel that ingredients are the most important part of the skincare regimen. Tons of products have pretty packaging, but only by knowing what an ingredient does can you correct a skin problem. I totally believe that your eyes should be going straight to the ingredients instead of saying that bottle is pretty. Who cares. Worry about if what's on the inside will help your skin problem.

Start with the basics. Find out what products will work well for your skin and go from there. If you have no idea where to start see your dermatologist. Don't rely on products on your pharmacy self.

Ask yourself what kind of moisturizers and I using? Do they work well for my skin? What is my skin type?

I'm just saying...

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

Huh!

I know. I think of all kind of topics. Because I am a curious soul.

Ok. So, we have discussed several things since I started blogging. Here is another for you to think about tonight.

This is an ingredient that can irritate the skin; Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). Known as surfactants. Surfactants lather well and are found in shampoo, toothpaste, shaving cream, laundry detergent, dish soap and many industrial cleaning products. Because of the way these are designed to work surfactant molecules stays on hair and skin long after you think you've rinsed them off.

Did you know that as they sit there, the literally strip away fatty acids, moisture, and amino acids from your hair and skin. They also increase dryness, increase roughness, and disturb the healthy growth process of new hair and skin.

Have you ever wondered why your hair is falling out?

I am just saying.

Peace.

The Benefits of Natural Products

Do you believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? When it comes to skin care.

I use to shop for convenience, but now I shop for safety. I know that you want a product that is quick and fast. But do you know your benefits and bath & beauty products? Or you have heard about it from the media or word of mouth? Have you every asked yourself, what your products do for your skin? What is the benefit of using this soap, lotion, mask, acne treatment?

I use to purchase because it was recommended now I purchase because I know the benefits. And I know my products because I create them myself.

Recently, the harmful nature of synthetic beauty products has become common place in the news. The number of products being used by consumers all over the world is overwhelming, it is no wonder that competition among grooming product producers has grown immensely. This competition is partially responsible for the increasingly harmful nature of these products.

Here's a little advice I want to share, know your skin type so that you can buy skin care products best suited for you. Ex: people with dry skin should avoid astringents and any product with alcohol because they easily strip away moisture from the skin. People with oily skin do not need the heavy oils found in some moisturizers and should use moisturizers specially designed for oily skin. People with sensitive skin should purchase products designed for sensitive skin as they tend to be less abrasive, containing gentler ingredients. Did you know that one?

Did you know that Petroleum-based cosmetics and skin care products are found to contain cancer-causing chemical 1,4-dioxane? What is that? 1,4-Dioxane is a clear, colorless heterocyclic organic compound which is a liquid at room temperature and pressure. Huh! Here's the skinny. In my terms. I am not a chemist, so I had to do some digging. 1,4-Dioxane is classified as an ETHER.

1,4-Dioxane is in a wide variety of cosmetic products on the market, including most all brands of hair relaxers and more than half of the baby soaps on the market.

I know what your thinking, everything that we use today causes some forms of cancers. That is true, but when I was growing up my mother and her mother before her had no other choices on the market. They had to use what was available to them to wash, do hair & moisturize skin. Half the time, they cooked with the same products used for hair and skin care.

Today, we have every available choice. We have the information available at our fingertips. We have the right to choose products that are not synthetic based; and we have the choice to choose Organic based bath & beauty products. These are products that are made with natural ingredients.

Remember that our skin is the body's largest organ, and accounts for most of the body's absorption of everyday toxins. These toxins include the products we rub on our skin daily. Wouldn't you rather rub products that you know what the benefits are or would you rather continue to be in the dark?

I would rather know.

Thanks

Men & Skin Care Products

I often ask this question, Does it really matter what products a man puts on his skin? I believe so. The few men that I have ask have mixed reactions. Some said yes and some said no.

Skin care is no longer just a woman's thing. Men are becoming increasingly aware and concerned about the health and appearance of their skin, which is oilier and thicker than a woman's skin. I believe that men want Natural Masculine, and easy to use undetectable skin care products.

Many men don't want you to think that they have vanity issues, but they actually do. There are some men that spend more time in the mirror than you do. There are even some men who purchase more products than you do. Why? Because they want to try products that will make their face look better and younger. Perhaps, to even rid themselves of those creeping age lines. Men have that problem too.

Natural Products By TMB has an exclusive line of skin care products for men. This line includes shaving cream, ole tyme shaving soap, aftershave cream, astringent, moisturizers and two exclusive men's collections. It is important that men have equal value when it comes to the "pampering of the skin".

You would not think that the men's skin care products would be a big deal but actually there is just as much money spent on these products for men as there is in the skin products for women. Men's skin care products are in the abundance especially when it comes to shaving. Men have to shave every day and this can cause them a lot of irritation so the products that they use are used in order for them not to walk around with scaly or really red sensitive looking skin.

My products are made with natural moisturizers that soothe and relieve dry irritated skin this is because my ingredients do not contain Alcohol.

Try my Simply Soothing Collection for Men.

Just like women, I believe that a man should also include a facial mask into the skin care regimen. It is important that they detoxify the skin and remove dead skin cells so that the skin can be rejuvenated. (try the French Green & Rhassoul Facial masks you will love it!)

Men have so many skin care issues many suffer from acne, ingrown facial hairs, razor bumps, rashes and skin irritation. Using the right products can prevent these problems.

Some of the products contain:
70% Alcohol
Triethano-Lamine
Isobutane
Laureth-23
Fragrance
Propane
Sodium Lauryl

Do you know what these ingredients mean? If not, I don't believe that I would be using them on my skin.

There is a better way.

My Beauty Buzz

I am not a chemist or have I taken a chemistry class since my high school days. Many of my clients are amazed that my experience is learned from knowing what works well on my skin.

I customize all my products for my clients. It's important to set yourself apart from the norm. My skin is not like your skin and your skin is not like the lady or man next to you. It's important to determine what your client's needs are. I dislike going to the store and purchasing a product that the manufacturer says will work for me. How do they know my skin problems? I have never discussed my problem areas. Make-up does that shade work well for me or did the maker just decide that it will.

I am very passionate about my relationship with my mother, so when she asked about a product for her dry skin; of course I couldn't deny her. (although, I hadn't a clue) I love researching what ingredients work well with what. I believe that is key to providing the proper skin care regime.

I suffer from adult acne. And of course, I want my skin to look healthy. I don't know about you but I have tried numerous products on the market without success. I figured since I was able to create a product for my mother why not create something for myself. After researching, I found out that the products that I was using contained ingredients that caused my skin to become irritated, burned, crusting, itching and many times produced rashes.
For me, there is nothing more important than ones face. The world views you by your appearance.

I believe that it important to know what ingredients we use on our skin. I also believe that if you cannot pronounce the ingredients than you shouldn't use it. I am a creature of habit, I love my products, I don't venture into the world of the unknown any longer. What I use on my skin, I understand and what I make for my clients is the absolute best.

I find it interesting that manufacturers don't label their products like:

Mineral Oil - by products of gasoline
Talc Powder - derived in powder form and is hazardous to the health
Propylene Glycol - Is the most common moisture-carrying vehicle but can destroy the natural functioning of the skin and is derived from petroleum products.
Formaldehyde - Can be found in nail polish and hardeners, soap, cosmetics and hair growing products. It is toxic when inhaled, a severe irritant, and a suspected carcinogen that is linked to cancer.

Hmmmm. And I asked myself, why have I decided to go Natural?
