Naturally Me! It's always great to hear...

It's always great to hear....

I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to hear how your hard work helps someone.  My customers are awesome; I rely on them to give me feedback.  I rely on them to test my products; I rely on them to help me reach my potential.  In a nut shell, I love them.

This morning I received some wonderful feedback from my valued customers.

K.P. is a newly natural product wearer of my Herbal Deodorant.  “I love this deodorant, it is long lasting and it actually works to keep me dry.  I work out daily and need a deodorant that will actually keep up with my active lifestyle”.

Amber has purchased a variety of products and most recently purchased my Boost Factor Facial Serum. “Love this, it goes on easily, absorbs quickly and I can apply my makeup on top of it and I look fresh.  People need to know about this product it works great!”

Akeima is a longtime customer and has tried many products; she absolutely loves the Manuka Honey Moisturizer and Facial Cleanser. “I have tired many products on the market that say they work, these are the only products that work for my sensitive skin.” “Love them”
I cannot say enough about my Boost Factor Facial Serum.

This product I am very proud of.  I use it as a daily skincare routine.  It is an amazing product.  I can honestly say that this product has a lot of passion behind it.  Don’t get me wrong, all of my products that I create are of equal importance, but this one took a little more effort to make it the perfect pairing for any skin care routine.

If you have ever thought about going natural but can’t seem to wrap your head around where to start, start basic.  Start replacing your commercially prepared and chemically laced products with something clean.  Many people know the basics for Clean Eating; try the basic for Clean Living.  Get rid of the parabens first.  Examples:  Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben and Butylparaben.  These are most common in foods and cosmetics.

Take a look on the back of your products and see how many you will find.
I cannot tell you guys enough how grateful I am to my customers and readers.
Thank you.

Naturally Me!

THIS WEEK IN THE NEWS!!!

We added some great new products to our new store.

Visit us at naturalproductsbytmb.com or etsy.com/naturalproductsbytmb

If you follow my blogs, I am constantly looking for ways to get my products out there.  I use this forum to share ideas and helpful information in hopes that if you are trying to find your way, I can share experiences with you.

If you have ideas, please share with us.  Some may have better avenues than I; some may be striving to find a way to break into promoting their products or services to the community.

I found a new home, I will see what transpires.  I am constantly hopeful about new things. There is nothing that I won’t try to promote my business.

So now visit me on HandmadeArtist.com with my array of products.

I have an Esty shop and that forum is a little different than this shop.  This shop is more comfortable if I can use the term.  Comfortable means to me, that it is less formal than Etsy.

Esty is more professional and you see that when you go to the site.  This site is nice, you have people who are just starting out and people who are more professional and have been selling for years.  I love the variations.  No pressure there! The levels are all over the place with photos of products.  I like that.  It gives you a jumping off point.    Some people really want to start selling on sites but feel intimidated about it.  Please don't feel that way.  Do it.  How else will you learn different ways of promoting your new business?

Do you know how many people will have the opportunity to see your work?  How many people will buy your products? You only need one. Or maybe 2, 3,4,5….

The point is how else will you know unless you give it a try.

Like I said earlier, if I am not blogging, I am creating.
Much Success in starting your online shopping business.

Naturally Me!

Naturally Me!

Making Repairs.

My last transmission left off at my new product the Boost Factor Facial Serum.  Well, let me just say honestly, we went back and made a few adjustments.  I am a stickler for perfection! PERIOD SAID!
My brand is important.

The important part in creating any of my products is the feedback that I receive.  It is important to receive this vital information because it helps me to make a better product.
We changed a few key ingredients from our original formula and added Vitamin C Ester to the formula which makes the texture so much better.

Do you know the difference between Vitamin C & Vitamin C Esters?

Water-soluble Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid is found in many vitamin supplements, but ascorbic acid can have drawbacks as a topical ingredient.  Ascorbic acid can cause irritation to skin when included in topical products.

Fat-Soluble, Vitamin C Ester is full of antioxidant nutrients that display greater antioxidant activity in our cells than ascorbic acid.    Vitamin C ester can reside in our cells; it will continuously regenerate the Vitamin E that becomes depleted by that fat-soluble antioxidant continuous fight against free radicals.  Vitamin C ester possess an amazing ability to stimulate growth of cells that help produce collagen and elastin, the strands of tissue that give the skin its strength and flexibility.

Finally, Vitamin C ester is also more stable in topical solutions, maintaining its efficacy while delivering wonderful benefits.

Our Boost Factor Facial Serum is available through our website.

Love this!!

Naturally Me!
Let me take this opportunity to thank those who have supported me with my ramblings.  Being able to communicate my passion through blogging is one of my favorite outlets.  I am happy that I have the opportunity to share my passion of creating wonderful products.

I will tell anyone who is passionate about something to keep pursuing it.  My mom says to me each day, NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER GIVE IN.  To GIVE IN means defeat, to GIVE UP means that you didn’t have that passion.  Nothing in life is easy.  You have to believe that what you are working towards will give you the greatest rewards.
What’s my greatest reward?  My greatest reward is my customers feedback regarding my products and customer service.  No matter the feedback; I take it and use it to better my business. There are owners who hate to receive negative feedback.  Don't you want to know the answer to "How ae we doing?"  Can we do something better? or How can be keep your business?  How are you going to know what’s wrong with your product if you don’t receive negative feedback.  I am a fan of Carol’s Daughter, I love her business model and hope to one day, be as successful.

Having something that you can call your own takes effort, nothing happens overnight.  At least, not for me; I believe that I am destined to work hard in order to appreciate the opportunities that I have.  I also believe that you have to put work into your craft. Most people do not understand this concept.  It’s so easy to grasp.

For example, if you play an instrument, you have to continually practice at it to be perfect.  If you are a dancer, you have to practice to be the best, if you sing you have to practice to hit those high notes.  It’s the same when you create products, if you don’t continually practice, put forth an effort and research you will fall flat on your face and lose the trust of a potential customer.  Nobody likes a product that doesn’t work.  You know that saying, if one person likes your product they will tell one person, but if they hate it they will tell the world.

Here’s a thought for today.  Try something that’s new and exciting.  Put yourself out on a limb.  I am always hanging out there.  If you don't take a risk on you, how will you know you got it?  Most entrepreneurs are risk takers.  That’s part of wanting to have that independence to work for yourself and make a difference in someone's life by giving them or a community much needed jobs.

Some of you may know that I have several irons in the fire.  First, there is my www.naturalproductsbytmb.com; www.chloes-paw.org and now OpenSky our new exclusive store for products only for your pets.
Below see the link in which to follow us.  We ask that you share.

Our goal is to take Natural Products By TMB to the next level, we cannot do it without your support.

Thank you all.

This is the reason why we create our pet products.  100% of the proceeds goes toward our nonprofit Chloe's Paw.  Read Riley's story at www.chloes-paw.org.
This little guy is Riley and he is one of our success stories that we have had the opportunity to help with money received from the sale of our Pet Products and donations from the community.

Let's keep it going!!  This is my reason...

Naturally Me! It's All About the Paws!!!

It's all about the paws!!

Fred is the Black/White and Nikki and the glowy eyed one.

Tell me if this doesn’t sound familiar to you.

Your dog is down on all fours and chewing the life out of his/her paw.

Have you heard yourself say? STOP CHEWING ON YOUR FOOT.  It is irritating when you constantly hear them licking.  I don’t know about you but my Nikki has the biggest tongue ever and she is REALLY LOUD!!

UGH!!
As humans, we can scratch the itch; dogs cannot and therefore, they result to licking and biting when they itch.  We have to consider our animals when they are going through an itching spell.  Like people, dogs can have allergies, causing them to become itchy.  There could be several reasons for animals to have allergies, such as flea allergies, food allergies or environmental allergies.  Some animals may be allergic to the flea’s bite and may cause them to become irritated.  Food allergies are common in dogs and therefore, will cause them to have severe itching of the paws, face and ears.  Oftentimes, they can be plagued with loose stool or vomiting. (I have seen this happen with my Fred when we change his food) Environmental allergies can cause similar signs and the important note is to remember that food allergies will always be around, as for the environmental aspect of allergies that will be determined by the seasons.  Most people and animals will find that the winter months are the best times for allergy relief.

The best advice is to check with your veterinarian about flea prevention medication that will help with the flea allergies and they can also check to find out what is causing the other allergies that your animals is encountering.

I enjoy writing about animals because they are a huge part of my life.  I can greatly identify with this blog today, because my Fred constantly bites on his paws to the point that they are so rough they scratch me when he jumps up on me.  I can tell you, I am constantly saying OUCH all the time.  They feel like a Brillo pad.  How uncomfortable that must make him feel as well.

So what am I to create for my pampered pooch?  Since, I am crafty girl; I knew that I wanted to make a product for my animal’s paws.  I made a Paw Protection Balm that softens those dry pads and is safe if they start licking.  It is unscented and made with human-grade ingredients.  It’s also great for your dry areas as well.

Keep in mind, if you are feeling itchy your dog may be feeling the same way.

Watch for the signs!

Check our website at www.naturalproductsbytmb.com to order your sample or regular size.
This great Paw Protection Balm is made of Raw Shea & Cocoa Butters for super moisturizing and hydration, Rosemary Essential Oil for anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties and Fragrance Free.  Just take a small amount and massage into your pets paws.  (I use it at night before they go to bed, it makes a huge difference)

Naturally Me! Facial Care - Part 2

I receive a lot of questions about; what can I do about these dry areas, red areas and acne areas on my face?  What do you say but do your best to give the best answers possible, always advising you to see your physician about any health concerns.

I love creating and sharing with people I know who will truly appreciate my creations. Bath and Beauty products are not the only things that keep my focus; I love sewing, baking Gluten Free dog treats and making one of kind pieces of jewelry.

If you have ever suffered from Eczema, Psoriasis or Rosacea you know how uncomfortable it is to deal with when flare-ups occur.  The wonderful thing is that there are natural treatments available on the market.  You just have to do a little research.

Having said that, let’s talk about attacking these problems naturally.

Eczema affects a lot of people; it doesn’t choose which people will have the opportunity this week it causes havoc to those who have it and those who have it suffer from with discomfort.

What is Eczema?  It is an inflammation of the skin usually caused by an allergic reaction.  Most people will get the rash on their hands, neck, face and legs. A lot of times, you will even see it around the lip area. Most of my clients have shown me areas on the knees, elbows and the wrist. Please continue to keep in mind that you will need to get checked before deciding on a natural treatment.  After you have decided on a method of treatment, remember to avoid scratching the itch, because you can make the problem worse.

Psoriasis affects all.  Psoriasis doesn’t discriminate.  Psoriasis is another condition that has the result of the skin showing signs of thickened and scaling skin.  If you have ever had the opportunity to view this, you will see dry flakes of scaly skin around the most commonly known areas of the elbows, knees and scalp.  Some people have a mild form of psoriasis, which contain small dry patches and others have a very severe psoriasis where many parts of their body are covered with this condition.

Rosacea is a common skin disease that affects adults.  It is often seen with redness on the facial area.  There are individuals who get bumps and pimples on the red parts of their faces.  Rosacea can cause burning and redness.  Remember to speak with your physician regarding treatment options.

Unfortunately, we ourselves suffer or we know someone who suffers from any one of the above, don’t give up, there is always information available about how to combat this problem. Please keep in mind that research is a key part in making the right choices.

Some things can be done to help soothe skin irritation, if you are a little proactive and have a natural skin care routine. By using natural cleansers and moisturizers for your skin you can and will save yourself from those annoying flare ups.  Try making it a point to find natural detergents like Seventh Generation, this detergent is non-irritating, free of dyes and synthetic fragrances, and supports sustainable palm oil. I enjoy this detergent.  I know that Target carries the entire line.  Give it a try!

I love using products that work well for my skin; my Black Onyx facial cleansing bar is amazing.  I am not just saying this because it’s my product, it works.  I have adult acne and I get regular breakouts.  I will not use anything else.  (see picture below)  Please take the opportunity and try this bar for yourself, visit our website at naturalproductsbytmb.com to order your sample bar.

Find Facial cleansers that have ingredients that are hypoallergenic.  Most facial cleansers are commercially prepared in mass quantities and can contain harsh and irritating chemicals for your skin and especially your face.  Try a facial cleanser that contains natural elements of clay.  Clay is natural resource, absorbs toxins and is great for sensitive skin. I am going to continue to plug my products because they are “awesome”.  I have a soap-free facial cleanser that is made with Organic French Green Clay, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Sunflower Extract, Calendula Extract, Burdock Root, Rosehip Oil, and Vitamin E Oil.  These ingredients not only help to clean the face but hydrates as well and restores moisturize.  (get a sample) If that doesn’t interest you, soap-free products are just that soap-free, we have a foaming facial cleanser, this cleanser is amazing in removing dirt without irritating your skin. We infuse Olive Oil with fresh mint for blood circulation, burdock root for anti-bacterial properties, Sunflower & Calendula Extract have aromatherapy and anti-bacterial properties, Jojoba & Hemp Seed Oil for hydration.  This is an excellent product for sensitive skin.  An added bonus is Raw African Shea Butter which is a great and natural moisturizer and skin healing agent.

Special thanks to my women of a certain age group. We are not afraid to ask those skin problem questions.

Naturally Me! Natural Hair Care

It’s all about Natural Hair Care.

Let’s start out by saying that “Natural” can mean anything.  For me, natural means the elements of natural ingredients that I use in my products.  I believe that anything that contains elements of nature and the use of the earth to grow your ingredients is what Natural is all about. Keep in mind that many products that say “Natural & Organic” doesn’t necessary mean that they are.  There are a lot of naturally prepared skin care products available, but what works for one may not work for another.

The bottom line with any skin care product one the market or handmade is that you have to decide what works best for you.  Research and read ingredients.  Take a few moments to check out what the ingredients are by using Google and find out if it works well for what you are striving to achieve.  Here are a few questions that I would ask myself.  Are you concerned with Preservative?  Are there a certain percentage of natural ingredients you are looking for in your product?  How important is fragrance?

I am a natural girl; my hair is cut short, no color, no perm, and no curly kit. Don’t get me wrong, I love when I see my “Girlfriends” with color in their hair.  It’s a personal preference.  I use to put color in my hair on a weekly basis. I know how that works cut & color.  God forbid, you are caught with new growth coming in and you don’t have your locs colored.  So again, it’s up to you.  I now just started to rock my patches of gray in my hair.  That’s the only color I need.  Let’s face it, I earned those gray hairs and why should I use bleach to get rid of what is rightfully mine?  No vanity here.

I have an exclusive line of hair care products; Love my hair butter is one of my favorite, which is made with African Shea Butter, Amla Oil, Jamaican Coconut Oil, Vitamin E & Pro-Vitamin B-5 and other strengthening ingredients. Let’s talk about it further with the benefits of each.  We also have a concentrated hair conditioning Masque”; our PH balanced hair masque covers the cuticle layer which results in hair smooth and bouncy and not feeling weighed down.  This masque hydrates repairs dry and damage hair and is super thick like buttercream icing.   Also repairs breakage and split ends.  It helps with tangles and makes hair more manageable.   Our hair masque is made with Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Pro-Vitamin B5, Coconut Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Wheat Protein, Sunflower Extract, Horsetail Extract and other hair nourishing ingredients.

African Shea Butter is made from the Karite, Nku and Bambuk trees.  Shea butter is also known as Butyrospermum Parkii or Vitellana Paradoxa a common wild tree.  African Shea Butter comes in a variety of colors that range from a cream color or slightly off white to yellow or yellowish gray.  It also has a distinctive nutty scent.  The benefits of Shea butter for hair and skin are amazing.  Shea Butter contains five essential fatty acids Phytosterols, Vitamins E, D & A, Allantoin (good for healing skin irritations).  The combination of ingredients helps neutralize free radicals damage, reducing fine line and wrinkles, age spots as well as stimulating collagen production.  Shea Butter moisturizes hair and acts as a natural conditioner.  It can also repair and protect split ends and protect hair shaft against weather damage or brittleness and breakage.  Shea Butter makes hair shiny and smooth.  Excellent for dry scalp.

Jamaican raw virgin coconut oil extracted from organic coconuts. This is a different consistency than the regular Coconut Oil.  It’s thick and melts beautifully into any products that you need Coconut Oil for.  The process for this oil is labor intensive; the end product is exquisite, unlike any other coconut oils on the market.  This is one of my favorite to work with in my hair products.

The Amla (Emblica offcinalis) tree is indigenous to India and many Indian women use oil produced by the Amla fruit as a hair conditioner.  Amla Oil benefits for hair are that it has the ability to penetrate scalp and strengthen hair at the root.  Helps to prevent gray hair; has Anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties; is an antioxidant that has doubled the power of Acai Berry and Pomegranate.  This product leaves hair soft to the touch.

Vitamin B-5, also called pantothenic acid, is one of eight B vitamins.  Vitamin B-5 helps the body produce energy and promotes the health of the skin, hair, eyes and liver.  Panothenic acid also helps red blood cells.  Provitamin B-5 is also called Panthenol which is a derivative of Vitamin B and is in most of the hair products; Pro-Vitamin B5 can penetrate into the hair shaft and moisturize dry and damaged hair.  It also gives luster, body and bounce, as well as repair damaged hair.

Let’s talk shampoo:

Most people don’t think about shampoo, in fact, many use plain soap.  Why People?  What you use on your body is not what is needed for your hair.  My husband is the offender of this.  He is also the offender of buying commercially made products.  It’s my fault, I am so busy making luxurious products for my customers that my husband is left to fend for himself.  I am a Bad wife. Ugh! I need to do better.  Thank goodness my husband has received other goodies from me.

The most important thing when you are looking for a shampoo, please make sure that it is a moisturizing shampoo.  Moisturizing shampoos gently cleanses and restores your natural moisture without adding weight to your hair.  I love using a blend of Aloe Leaf Juice, Jojoba, Meadowform and Horsetail extracts to my shampoos because it hydrates and leaves hair softer and more manageable with the addition of shine.  My shampoos are perfect for all hair types because it’s sulfate, No Parabens, Synthetic Dyes or Fragrances.

When I transitioned from permed to natural hair, I wanted to know how to do it seamlessly. Here are a few ideas that you can use to get started or continue on your path to a successful head of natural hair.  First, use products that are specifically for Natural Hair.  Natural hair products focus entirely on the natural wave or curl pattern of the hair and moisturizes the hair from root to end.  (Like our “Love my Hair Butter, Moisturizing Hair Oil and Hair “Masque”).  Second, get use to your new look, for a long time you have been applying chemicals to your hair, now is the time for you to get use to the new look without chemicals.  Some people will not like your “natural do”, oh well, but YOU make sure that you love your natural do.  It will not be easy, it takes time to transition from what use to be Your Norm to the New Normal, but it will work out in the end if you take the time to work with your new look.   Third, check out all the hair magazines, I remember when I was looking for a style to rock I would pick up several magazines to look at the braids, locs, and Fro’s.  I enjoyed Black Hair magazines because they had so many different styles.  The key is to have fun.  Don’t let one style dictate your hair outcome.  Be creative, be you.

Fourth, if you are thinking of cutting your hair off, that is a personal preference for that individual.  I would honestly suggest to anyone, research first, and find products that will work well for your hair.  Don’t purchase something that you will be stuck with.  Find products that you can get samples of and try them out.  Don’t be afraid to find businesses that sell samples. We want your business and you as a loyal customer.  Be your own hair attorney and do your due diligence.

A lot of women with long hair have a problem, what should I do with this if I am going Natural?  There are a lot of opportunities to be creative.  In fact, today, I was chatting with a hair newcomer and she is trying to decide how to go about transiting from perms to natural. She has a beautiful head of hair and I told her that she has so many opportunities to rock a style with her length.  I love the natural twist that a lot of women are rocking now.   I believe that she will do very well with the transition and I hope that this blog will be able to give her and others some new ideas.

Finally, ask questions.  Find someone who has been through the transition and ask them how, what, when and where.

I believe that you will do fine with your new do.

Please visit us at http://www.naturalproductsbytmb.com to see our samples.  I believe that reading about something isn’t the same as sampling the product.  How do you know if it will work for you unless you venture out and try it?

Naturally Me! To Powder or To Talc?

Here a little food for thought.

What is Talcum powder?

Do you believe that Talcum Powder and Baby Powder are the same?

There are actually differences between the two:

Talcum powder is made from talc, a mineral containing elements of magnesium, silicon, and oxygen.  Talc Powder can be clear or opaque and translucent.  Talc also has ingredients of zinc stearate, magnesium and silicates.

Baby Powders are a milder substance because they are made with cornstarch instead of talcum powder which can be harmful to baby’s lungs when inhaled.  Most talcum powders are contaminated with asbestos fibers) Cornstarch is much less harmful when inhaled and should be a serious consideration when looking at powders not only for babies’ safety but for the entire family.

Why Cornstarch?

Cornstarch has anti-inflammatory benefits, it calms itchy skin and rashes, and burns.

When thinking about the differences between the two there are no comparisons to which one works best, cornstarch is the winner.

I enjoy creating my own line of products and making my own baby and adult powders is one of my favorites because I can customize it to be more absorbent to wetness and odors. I also like the fact that I know what I am using in my powders.  “If I don’t put it on my skin, I don’t sell it to my friends.”   The best part is that I love infusing my cornstarch with other natural elements such as baking soda, Kaolin and French Green Clay or any other of type clays for that matter. In addition to clays, we use Arrowroot powder which is a white powder starch that feels and looks like cornstarch; it’s extracted from the root of a tropical West Indies plant called Marantha Arundinacea that’s grown in Thailand and Brazil.

Arrowroot is used in many cosmetics to help moisturizers penetrate the skin and may be used in other products similar to cornstarch.  Natural Clays are the key to many great natural product lines.  At least it works great for me and my line.

When considering the pros and cons of your talcum powder to baby powder, consider that baby powder is not only safe for your babies but safe for adults as well.  Talcum comes with many disadvantages and can come with a few risks as well.  But the decision is yours.  Many reports suggest that talcum powder around the genital areas, armpits and cause cancer and tumors.  In women, it is linked to ovarian cancer.  I believe that regardless of talcum or baby powder, we should be careful when using these manufactured products.

The only real way to know what you are using on your skin is to investigate and research your products and find out what works best for you and your family.
